Masonry Designers’ Guide – 5^th Edition

The most popular design guide has recently been completely updated to reflect the numerous additions and changes in the 2005 edition of the Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures (ACI 530/ASCE 5/TMS 402) and the Specification for Masonry Structures (ACI 530.1/ASCE 6/TMS 602), to reformat and rewrite the major design chapters to follow more closely design methods used for masonry, and to add additional information on how to use the MSJC with model building codes. Included in the 5^th Edition of the Masonry Designers’ Guide (MDG-5) is new discussion on:

·    Using the MSJC with Model Building Codes, including a comprehensive review of differences between the 2005 MSJC and the IBC 2006

·    New Chapters on Allowable Stress Design, Strength Design, and Prestressed Masonry Design to replace previous chapters that addressed Flexure, Axial Load and Shear

·      Reformatted and new material on Masonry Quality Assurance/Quality Control

·      Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Masonry and thin-bed mortar

·      Updated Inspection and Quality Assurance provisions for masonry

In addition, simple examples have been added to the main design chapters so that users can quickly see how to apply the design provisions. The Building Design examples in the Masonry Designers’ Guide have also been substantially revised and updated to reflect the changes in the Code and Specification, and to analyze more typical masonry structures.
