New TMS
Resources include the 2008 MSJC, a Transition
Guide and Masonry Course Notes |

 |
|
This
winter, The Masonry Society and our
members have been busy finalizing
several important new resources
including the 2008 Masonry Standards
Joint Committee's (MSJC) Building
Code Requirements and Specification
for Masonry Structures (TMS 402/ACI
530/ASCE and TMS 602/ACI 530.1/ASCE
6). This new standard builds off
earlier editions of the standards
adding requirements for self
consolidating grout, clarifying
prescriptive seismic detailing
requirements and improving the
design and construction requirements
for masonry structures.
To
assist users quickly transition to
the 2008 MSJC, Jason Thompson and
Richard Klingner have created a
Transition Guide from the 2005 MSJC
to the 2008 MSJC. This excellent
short publication summarizes the
major changes designers and
contractors need to be aware of
related to the 2008 MSJC.
Richard Klingner has also updated
his popular Masonry Course Notes to
be based on the 2008 MSJC so that
educators can already begin teaching
to the new standards.
Details on these and other new
publications can be found be
clicking the links attached. Visit
the E-store or call the office to
place orders for these or other
publications. |

Authors/Reviewers
sought for MDG-6

valuable so they can convey design concepts to the
readers. Two types of reviewers are needed: Technical
reviewers must be experts on masonry design,
construction, or evaluation. Editorial reviewers must
have familiarity with masonry, but must
also be accomplished writers.
If you would like to
volunteer to assist with he development of this
important guide, contact
Phillip Samblanet. Authors and reviewers will be
selected based on their expertise, the needs of the
existing team and ability to meet strict deadlines for
the project. |
