Masonry Inspection |
|
Inspection of
masonry construction is vital to ensure masonry is constructed
as intended. Increasingly, special inspection of masonry and
other types of buildings is being performed because buildings
have become more complex, and there has been an increasing
desire and need to ensure the integrity of building structures.
In
order to provide a well trained, knowledgeable workforce of
masonry inspectors,
The Masonry Society
co-sponsors the International Code Council’s (ICC’s) Structural
Masonry Special Inspector’s (SMSI) Certification Examination.
Information on the ICC SMSI
examination can be obtained by clicking on the links below:
PLEASE NOTE - ICC has changed the
Examination to be based on the 2009 IBC!
For more information about the SMSI
Examination, call ICC at 1-888-ICC-SAFE (888-422-7233), ext.
33806.
Independent of the Certification of
Inspectors,
The Masonry Society
is also working to train special masonry inspectors through a
variety of resources and seminars. To aide in the Inspection
process, TMS has developed a Masonry Inspection Checklist, which
is available here. Details on future seminars will also be
posted here as they are scheduled.
TMS will continue to post
information on resources, seminars, and certification programs
for inspectors on this website as they become available. |
