Desiging to, and Overview of the 2005 MSJC

Description:
This intensive one-day seminar will guide you step-by-step through the recently updated masonry design and specification provisions included in the consensus masonry standards Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures (ACI 530-05/ASCE 5-05/TMS 402-05) and Specification for Masonry Structures (ACI 530.1-05/ASCE 6-05/TMS 602-05), while at the same time covering basic masonry design examples. This seminar is intended for practicing engineers and architects who design masonry. Building officials and contractors that commonly work with masonry may also find this seminar worthwhile.

Many changes have been made to the 2005 edition of the Masonry Building Code, Specification and their associated commentaries. This seminar will familiarize you with these new provisions, and how they may affect your masonry design and construction projects.

The seminar instructors, who serve on the Masonry Standards Joint Committee that made changes to these standards, will explain the major changes, why they were made, and what the changes may mean to you as a designer. You will work through real life examples that are encountered daily. By the end of this in-depth seminar, you will have a real feel for the Code, so that you can put the new Masonry Code into practice.

Since the 2006 International Building Code and the NFPA 5000 Code will reference these masonry standards, you will want to make sure to know how to use them.
