Aimed at practicing designers, this intense one-day seminar introduces the new 5th Edition of the Masonry Designers’ Guide, which is based on the 2005 ACI 530/ASCE 5/TMS 402, Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures (those requirements serve as the primary reference for both the 2006 IBC for the design and construction of masonry). To be most helpful for the attendees, the speakers, who served as authors on the MDG-5, will overview numerous design examples from three typical masonry buildings using both Allowable Stress Design procedures and the new Strength Design procedures of the Code. Those attending will leave the seminar with both a valuable education on masonry design and an important resource in the MDG-5.
