Existing Masonry Committee

Mission:
Disseminate knowledge on masonry evaluation, repair, rehabilitation, and restoration through TMS publications. Gather information, correlate results of field and laboratory research, and describe collective experience in analysis, design, construction, and manufacture related to masonry evaluation, strengthening and repair.

Goals:
(1) Develop a simple document outlining the general process approach related to evaluation of existing masonry structures and treatment of deficiencies or deterioration. This document would have the form of a flow chart or general procedure and direct the user to other existing documents for information on how to carry out individual steps.

(2) Develop a seminar on the topic, to expand on the ideas presented in the general process approach.

(3) Assemble a check-list or procedure for maintenance of masonry buildings.
