TMS Presents Numerous
Awards at its 2011 Annual Meeting in San Antonio Texas
The support and contributions of TMS members are the
lifeblood of the Society and are responsible for the
success and growth of the Society. This year the
contributions of a number of members were very evident
and they were acknowledged during the Awards Luncheon.

TMS President John Chrysler recognized incoming and
continuing officers and board members (see related
article on
Board Ballot Complete - New Members Elected).
Chrysler presented certificates of appreciation to
outgoing Board Members.
Certificates of Appreciation were also presented to outgoing members of the
Administrative Committee Team (ACT) and the
Technical Activities
Committee (TAC).
Plaques of appreciation were presented to the following
chairmen completing their service: Timothy Hess,
Construction Practices Committee, J. Eric
Peterson, Existing Masonry Committee, and Dennis Graber,
Standards Development Committee.

At the 11th North
American Masonry Conference in Minneapolis Minnesota, a
number of awards were presented for
Outstanding
NAMC Papers

Outstanding TMS Journal Papers,
the
Noland Student Scholarship
and the
Scalzi Research Award.

TMS
names J. Gregg Borchelt as Honorary Member
The
Masonry Society’s Board of Directors approved bestowing
Honorary Membership status on J. Gregg Borchelt,
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Brick
industry Association, for his significant and continued
contributions to both the Society and to the masonry
industry as a whole. Honorary Membership is the highest
award that TMS can bestow on a member and it recognizes
lifetime contributions to the advancement of knowledge
on masonry. Borchelt joins a very small and impressive
group of TMS’s 13 other Honorary Members: James E.
Amrhein (1997), Stuart R. Beavers (2004), David T. Biggs
(2008), Russell H. Brown (2006), Walter L. Dickey
(1995), Clayford T. Grimm (1997), George C. Hanson
(1995), Arnold H. Hendry (1999), John H. Matthys (2004),
Clarence B. Monk, Jr. (1995), James L. Noland (1995),
Donald A. Wakefield (1997) and H.W.H. West (1999).
