Melander and Throop named Fellow Members of TMS

The Masonry Society (TMS) recognized the appointment of John M. Melander and Diane B. Throop as Fellow Members to TMS and formally recognize them at the 2009 TMS Annual Meeting in Evanston, Illinois.

Melander, who serves as Director of Product Standards and Technology at the Portland Cement Association (PCA), has served TMS in countless ways, including serving as one of TMS's most influential Presidents. Throop, who serves as Director of Engineering at the International Masonry Institute (IMI) has also been a long time proponent and advocate for TMS, and currently serves as Chair of the Masonry Standards Joint Committee (MSJC). To qualify for Fellow Membership status, a Member must have made outstanding contributions to TMS and have been a member for no less than 10 consecutive years. Nominees are considered by the Awards Committee, who make recommendations to the Board of Directors, who then must approve nominees with no more than 2 negative votes. Those granted Fellowship status carry the designation FTMS, Fellow of The Masonry Society. The Awards Committee accepts applications for nominees for Fellow Membership in TMS until February 1 of each year.
